Port Wines

I discovered the Quinta do Bucheiro in November 2006 and I am delighted to be able to offer their Ports, which I thoroughly recommend. I market the Port wines under our brands of Mellor’s®, College® and the Quinta do Bucheiro – a single Quinta. The Port wines are assembled from the four principal grape varieties, Tourigo Nacional, Tourigo Franca, Tinta Roriz and the Tinta Barroca.

Mellor’s® Ruby Port
An excellent example of a fine Ruby Port, a blend prepared to our taste. The Port shows a good depth of colour with a pleasing fruit-tannin balance followed by an agreeably firm finish.

Mellor’s® Tawny Port
My College Tawny Port has an enviable reputation for its high quality. The colour of the Port shows a slightly brownish tinge with elegant fruit coupled with a refined and smooth finish, quite superb.

Mellor’s® Fine White Port
A Port prepared to my blend of traditional varieties, principally the Malvasia Fina, Gouveio and the Viosinho. A fresh Port with a high floral hint and a delightful round complex finish.

Mellor’s® Special Reserve Port
A more mature Ruby Port, full, with balanced fruit and tannins.

Mellor’s® Late Bottled Vintage Port 1989 bottled 1993.
A full, elegant and sophisticated stylish Port evolving to a superb Tawny. Delicious. Limited supply available.

Quinta do Bucheiro Vintage Port 2005
A powerful, heavy and complex bouquet with soft tannins. The Port wine is assembled from our Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz grapes, the grapes are pressed by the tradional foot method in our lagar. The Port wine has an expected maturity of 15 – 20 years, although the wine can be consumed now.
